Fantasy Alive is set on the continent of Ariel, with two games set within the Lakes Region. The region is dotted with ruins dating back to the fallen Golden Age of Magic, containing monsters, traps, exquisite treasures, and lost magics, as, over the centuries, kingdoms have risen and fallen, leaving behind the wonders that they created, and the horrors that they were unable to destroy.
Fantasy Alive: Toronto is set in the kingdom of Harodom, a predominantly human kingdom that has recently experienced wars and multiple changes to the social order that have led to greater social mobility, and the opportunity for chancing adventurers to seek their fortune and have their names written in the rolls of valour. Warriors, mages, clerics, merchants and chancers have flooded to a small as-yet-unnamed settlement near the Ire, a large salt-water body that holds many a curiosity within its depths, with the new settlement offering the promise of growth, and whispers of ancient secrets.
Fantasy Alive: Ottawa/Kingston is set in the Broken Reach, a no-man’s-land between the kingdoms of Harodom and Eldersire. Following a war between these kingdoms, and a series of natural and supernatural disasters, the area was declared neutral territory, and those seeking to make a new life for themselves came to the area, where they founded the rapidly growing town of Scarsinvale. It’s a hard life in Scarsinvale, but the miners, farmers, craftsmen, warriors, priests, assassins and wizards that make up the town seek to promote its well-being while protecting it from the undead, strange magics, and horrible monsters that plague the area – to say nothing of the all-too-familiar bandits and the threat of other settlements taking so that they do not need to create. FA:OK is currently on hiatus, but is expected to return soon.
Wherever you may choose to make your mark, the time is ripe to do so now. Go forth, bold adventurer! Uncover ancient mysteries, seek out caches of lost wealth, stand fast against evil – or fall to it! Write your name among the stars – and start your journey into the world of Fantasy Alive!
