General Information

This document is intended to clarify the many positions available within the game of Fantasy Alive. Each has their own place within the game and their own responsibilities. These have been described within each position’s description. Each position is also given Ogre Chips for their assistance with the running of Fantasy Alive which is listed within each job’s description.

The descriptions following are the current available positions and the details of each. Any and all of the details below are subject to change by the Owner at any time and will be updated publicly as soon as possible.

If you are interested in applying for any of these positions, please contact the Owner and follow any application process listed or requested.

Owner

The Owner of Fantasy Alive is responsible for the over-all running of the game and management of all other positions. This position has the authority to over-ride any decisions made by any other position within Fantasy Alive.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Ensure the game has a physical site to use, all equipment necessary, insurance coverage and all other legal and organizational parts.
  • Appoint and remove players from all other positions within Fantasy Alive.
  • Over-see Plot, Rules, Player Relations and any other teams created to assist with the running of the game.
  • Investigate and determine proper punishments for breaking of the game rules, abuse of players or any other actions seen as detrimental to the game.
  • Ensure that all information related to characters, players, plot, investigations, etc. is kept private and only provided as is necessary to operate Fantasy Alive.
  • Sets costs for membership, playing games, meal plan, and any other fees as determined by the Owner
  • Approve Marshal XP granted by Plot Members to Players.

 

Plot Member

This position is responsible for creating and running the on-going story within the Fantasy Alive game. This position works under the supervision of the Owner and Head of Plot.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Continue the ongoing story of within the game of Fantasy Alive in a challenging but enjoyable way for all players.
  • Ensure the proper use and care of the costumes, props, tools and other Fantasy Alive owned property
  • Create and record characteristics, statistics and abilities of creatures used within the story
  • Attend at least one meeting of the Plot Team before each event to coordinate the story.
  • Read and respond to emails sent to the Fantasy Alive Plot email address to the best of their ability and request assistance from other Plot Members and Owners if needed.
  • Supply all story ideas to the Head of Plot to approve/deny/change to ensure the best continuing story.
  • Supply all creature characteristics, statistics and abilities to the Head of Plot to approve/deny/change before used within the game.
  • Participate in a creation of an Event Write-up and schedule detailing the story to be created at the event, abilities and motivations for all Cast roles, and any other pertinent information for the event a minimum 2 weeks before the event for review by Head of Plot and Owners.
  • Running of the written story during the event through respectful management of the Junior Plot, Permanent Cast and Cast Members.
  • Document the story, actions and results of each event in an Event Debrief immediately following each Fantasy Alive event.
  • Ensure that all character, player, plot or other information collected is kept private and only provided at the discretion of the Owner.

Application Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of event attendance
  • Completion of a Junior Plot Term to the satisfaction of the Head of Plot and Owners.

Term of Position

  • Must commit to 12 events minimum with 24 events preferred.
  • Must provide minimum of 3 event notice of leaving the Position

Compensation

  • 120 OC per event plus Blanket, Combat and Marshal XP.
  • Free Meal Plan at attended events.
  • Individual Plot Reward granted if term a minimum of 12 events participating as a Plot Member completed to the satisfaction of the Owners.
  • Maximum 2 events Plot Member may PC or play a Full-Event Cast Role during a 12-event term.
  • Total SP cap for a new character rises by 4 SP per event.

Head of Plot

This position is responsible for creating and running the on-going story within the Fantasy Alive game and over-seeing the rest of the Plot Team. This Position works under the supervision of the Owner.

Specific Responsibilities

  • All of the Responsibilities of a Plot Member in addition to the ones below.
  • Organize the Plot Team to ensure each member is following the above responsibilities
  • Review and approve/deny/change all story ideas put forth by the Plot Team members to ensure the best continuing story.
  • Review and approve/deny/change all creature characteristics, statistics and abilities before used within the game.
  • Work with the Owners to ensure the story created by the Plot Team follows the vision of Fantasy Alive.
  • Ensure that all Cast and Plot Members are properly briefed on the event before beginning each event, including general idea of the event, roles they should expect to play and what the motivation of their roles will be.
  • Ensure the running of the written story during the event and the respectful management of the Junior Plot, Permanent Cast and Cast Members. Disrespectful incidences must be reported to the Owners.
  • Ensure that all character, player, plot or other information collected is kept private and only provided at the discretion of the Owner.

Application Requirements

  • Member of Plot Team
  • Approval from Owner

Term of Position

  • Must commit to 12 events minimum with 36 events preferred.
  • Must provide minimum of 3 event notice of leaving the Position

Compensation

  • 160 OC per event plus Blanket, Combat and Marshal XP.
  • Free Meal Plan at attended events.
  • Individual Plot Reward granted if term a minimum of 12 events participating as a Plot Member completed to the satisfaction of the Owners.
  • Maximum 2 events Plot Member may PC or play a Full-Event Cast Role during a 12-event term.
  • Total SP cap for a new character rises by 6 SP per event.

Junior Plot Member

This position is responsible for assisting the Plot Team in creating and running the on-going story within the Fantasy Alive game. This position works under the supervision of the Owner, Head of Plot and an assigned Plot Member. This position is designed to give a player the experience necessary to step into the role of Plot Member.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Beginning Responsibilities (Given at beginning of Junior Plot Term):
    • Work with their assigned Plot Member to learn how to continue the ongoing story of within the game in a challenging but enjoyable way for all players that follows the vision of Fantasy Alive.
    • Ensure the proper use and care of the costumes, props, tools and other Fantasy Alive owned property
    • Work with their assigned Plot Member to learn how to create and record characteristics, statistics and abilities of creatures used within the story
    • Assist their assigned Plot Member with running of the written story during the event through respectful management of the Junior Plot, Permanent Cast and Cast Members.
    • Document the story, actions and results of each event in an Event Debrief immediately following each Fantasy Alive event.
    • Ensure that all character, player, plot or other information collected is kept private and only provided at the discretion of the Owner.
  • Advanced Responsibilities (Given when Assigned Plot Member, Head of Plot and Owners agree to further training):
    • Attend at least one meeting of the Plot Team before each event to learn how to coordinate the event stories.
    • May be requested by their assigned Plot Member to read and respond to emails sent to the Fantasy Alive Plot email address to the best of their ability and request assistance from other Plot Members and Owners if needed.
    • Work with their assigned Plot Member to help in the creation of an Event Write-up and schedule detailing the story to be created at each event, abilities and motivations for all Cast roles, and any other pertinent information for the event a minimum 2 weeks before the event for review by Head of Plot and Owners.

Application Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of event attendance
  • Approval from Head of Plot and Owners

Term of Position

  • Minimum 3-6 months.
  • Requires Head of Plot and Owner Permission to complete term, which may result in a longer term if Junior Plot not ready to become a full Plot Member.

Compensation

  • 80 OC per event plus Blanket, Combat and Marshal XP.
  • Free Meal Plan at attended events.
  • Promotion to Plot Member upon completion of term to the satisfaction of Head of Plot and Owners
  • Total SP cap for a new character rises by 3 SP per event.

Cast Member (Cast)

This position is responsible for following the Plot Team’s directions to assist in creating and running the on-going story within the Fantasy Alive game. This position works under the supervision of the Owner, Head of Plot and all Plot Members

Specific Responsibilities

  • Follow the directions of Plot Members in regards to their roles, creature abilities and role-play.
  • Report their own actions and the actions of the other players they have witnessed to a Plot Member.
  • Ensure the proper use and care of the costumes, props, tools and other Fantasy Alive owned property
  • Ensure that all character, player, plot or other information collected is kept private and only provided at the discretion of the Owner.

Term of Position

  • No set requirement.

Application Requirements

  • None, just register each event.

Compensation

  • 40 OC per event plus Blanket, Combat and Marshal XP.
  • Total SP cap for a new character rises by 2 SP per event.

Permanent Cast Member (Perma-Cast)

This position is responsible for following the Plot Team’s directions to assist in creating and running the on-going story within the Fantasy Alive game. This position works under the supervision of the Owner, Head of Plot and all Plot Members

Specific Responsibilities

  • Follow the directions of Plot Members in regards to their roles, creature abilities and role-play.
  • Report their own actions and the actions of the other players they have witnessed to a Plot Member.
  • Ensure the proper use and care of the costumes, props, tools and other Fantasy Alive owned property
  • Ensure that all character, player, plot or other information collected is kept private and only provided at the discretion of the Owner.
  • Take on special or long-running roles given by Plot Members.

Term of Position

  • Minimum 3-6 months.

Application Requirements

  • Two back-to-back previous events as a Cast Member.
  • Must maintain reasonably consistent Event attendance.
  • Approval from Head of Plot and Owner

Compensation

  • 40 OC per event plus Blanket, Combat and Marshal XP.
  • Additional 25 OC or Free Meal Plan
  • Additional OC granted retro-actively for previous attendance as a Cast Member within a reasonable time-frame.
  • Total SP cap for a new character rises by 3 SP per event.

Player Relations Officer

This position is responsible for assisting players and all positions within Fantasy Alive in solving problems. They will generally assist players by bringing their concerns to the proper person to be handled, but they may also remain within the discussion of the issue if requested by any of the parties involved. This position works under the supervision of the Owner and Head of the Player Relations Team.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Discuss and provide recommendations on all submissions for changes or additions to the Code of Conduct.
  • Discuss questions posed to the whole of the Player Relations Team
  • Be available during Fantasy Alive events for players to speak to about issues.
  • Be available between Fantasy Alive events to assist players and Fantasy Alive Position holders in solving issues brought to them
  • Maintain the privacy of any player approaching the Player Relations Officer if so requested
  • Work directly with any players or Fantasy Alive Position to assist in solving issues.
  • Assist in the timely response to emails sent to the Player Relations Team email.
  • Ensure that all character, player, investigation or other information collected is kept private and only provided at the discretion of the Owner.

Term of Position

  • Permanent until requested by player or removed at Owners’ discretion.

Application Requirements

  • Minimum 6 months of event attendance
  • Proven record of fairness and sensitivity to Player’s needs

Compensation

  • 20 OC per event

Rules Marshal

This position is responsible for ensuring the following of the rules of Fantasy Alive during the course of an event. This position works under the supervision of the Owner and Head of the Rules Committee.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Answer questions during a Fantasy Alive event concerning the rules of the game. When possible, deferring a question to another Rule Marshal not directly involved in the concern.
  • Ensure that all players are following the rules of the game during an event while maintaining the flow of the role-play and game atmosphere as much as possible, i.e. stopping play for major issues while discussing minor infractions afterwards during a calm moment in-game.
  • Report issues surrounding the rules to the Owner
  • Ensure that all character, player, plot or other information collected is kept private and only provided at the discretion of the Owner.
  • Work with other Rules Marshals to check the Rules email account. Respond to simple questions or post more complicated ones on a board for discussion with other Marshals before responding.
  • Sign up for a shift during Logistics when possible to cover rules questions and assist logistics before the beginning of each game.

Term of Position

  • Permanent until requested by player or removed at Owners’ discretion.

Application Requirements

  • Minimum 6 months of event attendance
  • Proven record of fairness and understanding of the Fantasy Alive Rules

Compensation

  • 5 OC per event attended.
  • 20 OC per shift covered during Logistics

Weapons Marshal

This position is responsible for ensuring the safety of all weapons used at each event. This position works under the supervision of the Owners.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Be available, when possible, for a set time at the designated Marshal location before each event to check all player weapons brought to events to ensure they meet the safety requirements within the Rulebook, have tags securely attached to their phys-reps and collect a self-assessment of each player’s sleeping or tent dressings.
  • One Weapon Marshal each event must check all Cast weapons for safety before the event begins. This will be instead of the first responsibility.
  • Ensure that weapons which do not pass the safety requirements are fixed or are not used during events.
  • Provide suggestions and advice to players on how to create safe weapons.
  • Ensure that all weapons checked have a proper tag attached to the phys-rep.

Term of Position

  • Permanent until requested by player or removed at Owners’ discretion.

Application Requirements

  • Minimum 6 months of event attendance
  • Proven record of fairness and understanding of the Fantasy Alive Safety Rules

Compensation

  • 5 OC per event attended.
  • 20 OC per shift covered during Logistics and/or for safety-checking Cast weapons

Armour Marshal

This position is responsible for ensuring armour physical representations used at events are safe and properly counted for Armour Points. This position works under the supervision of the Owners.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Assign an armour type to each new piece of armour brought by players.
  • Assist players with counting armour locations and Armour Points.
  • Answer questions and give suggestions about armour coverage, Thresholds and other armour-related issues.
  • Be available for a set time at the designated Marshal location before each event to assist with armour questions and review character costuming for XP purposes.

Term of Position

  • Permanent until requested by player or removed at Owners’ discretion.

Application Requirements

  • Minimum 6 months of event attendance
  • Proven record of fairness and understanding of the Fantasy Alive Safety and Armour Rules

Compensation

  • 5 OC per event attended.
  • 20 OC per shift covered during Logistics

Boffer Construction Crew

This position is responsible for ensuring the phys-rep weapons and shields used by Plot and Cast are in good condition and in adequate supply. This position works under the supervision of the Owners and Head of Plot.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Review the weapons and shields owned by Fantasy Alive at the end of each event.
  • Take any damaged weapons or shields with them after an event, repair and return them at the next event.
  • Create new weapons or shields for Fantasy Alive as requested by Head of Plot and approved by Owners.
  • Create special commissions requested by Head of Plot and approved by Owner.

Term of Position

  • Permanent until requested by player or removed at Owners’ discretion.

Application Requirements

  • Minimum 6 months of event attendance
  • Proven examples of quality weapon and/or shield construction and reliability.

Compensation

  • OC granted per item created or fixed.
  • Special Commissions requiring additional materials may be partially or fully reimbursed by Fantasy Alive on a case-by-case basis.

Prop Construction Crew

This position is responsible for creation and maintenance of props used for Fantasy Alive events. This position works under the supervision of the Owners and Head of Plot.

Specific Responsibilities

  • At Head of Plot and/or Owner’s request, take any damaged props with them after an event, repair and return them at the next event.
  • Create new props for Fantasy Alive as requested by Head of Plot and approved by Owners.
  • Create special commissions requested by Head of Plot and approved by Owner.

Term of Position

  • Permanent until requested by player or removed at Owners’ discretion.

Application Requirements

  • Minimum 6 months of event attendance
  • Proven examples of quality prop construction and reliability.

Compensation

  • OC granted per item created or fixed.
  • Special Commissions requiring additional materials may be partially or fully reimbursed by Fantasy Alive on a case-by-case basis.

Costume Creation Crew

This position is responsible for creation and maintenance of costumes used for Fantasy Alive events. This position works under the supervision of the Owners and Head of Plot.

Specific Responsibilities

  • At Head of Plot and/or Owner’s request, take any damaged costumes with them after an event, repair and return them at the next event.
  • Create new costumes for Fantasy Alive as requested by Head of Plot and approved by Owners.
  • Create special commissions requested by Head of Plot and approved by Owner.

Term of Position

  • Permanent until requested by player or removed at Owners’ discretion.

Application Requirements

  • Minimum 6 months of event attendance
  • Proven examples of quality costume creation and reliability.

Compensation

  • OC granted per item created or fixed.
  • Special Commissions requiring additional materials may be partially or fully reimbursed by Fantasy Alive on a case-by-case basis.

Packet Creation Crew

This position is responsible for creation of Spell, Alchemy and Rock Packets used for Fantasy Alive events. This position works under the supervision of the Owners and Head of Plot.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Create new packets for Fantasy Alive as requested by Head of Plot and approved by Owners.

Term of Position

  • Permanent until requested by player or removed at Owners’ discretion.

Application Requirements

  • Minimum 3 months of event attendance
  • Proven examples of quality Packets.

Compensation

  • OC granted per quantity of Packets created.

Kitchen/Meal Preparation Crew

This position is responsible for assisting in the preparation, cooking and cleaning of the meals served as part of the Fantasy Alive Meal Plan. This position works under the supervision of the Owners.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Sign up before the event for assistance with meals.
  • Follow the direction of the Owners in preparing meals.
  • Clean and wash dishes (if signed up for dishes)
  • Assist with serving meals to players.

Term of Position

  • Permanent until requested by player or removed at Owners’ discretion.

Application Requirements

  • Some experience with food preparation or cleaning.
  • Approval from Owners.

Compensation

  • OC based on participation in meal preparation and time spent during events.
  • If 30 or more OC earned in a single event, 30 OC may be turned in for a full Meal Plan for a future event.

Fantasy Alive Social Media Guru

This position is responsible for maintaining, updating and collecting information from Fantasy Alive’s web spaces. This position works under the supervision of the Owners.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Create Event pages for each Fantasy Alive upcoming event with information provided by Plot Team.
  • Post announcements provided by Owners and Plot as necessary on Fantasy Alive web spaces.
  • Collect all event reviews into a document for Plot and Owner use.
  • Moderate public Fantasy Alive space for breaches to the Code of Conduct. Report potential breaches to Owners and perform any necessary actions as directed by Owners.
  • Post a minimum of once every 3 days on web spaces with content approved by Owners (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc).
  • Maintain a bank of pictures and post worthy information. Consult with Owners and Plot when in need of new content.

Term of Position

  • Permanent until terminated by player or removed at Owners’ discretion.

Application Requirements

  • Experience with social media.
  • Reasonable online availability.
  • Approval from Owners.

Compensation

  • 100 OC per Event cycle (Regardless of event attendance)

Head of Tavern Maintenance, Head of Cast Cabin Maintenance (2 Positions)

This position is responsible ensuring the setup and cleaning up of the main spaces used by Fantasy Alive at events, the Tavern and Cast Cabin. Each location has a separate Position. This position works under the supervision of the Owners.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Receive a setup/clean up checklist from Owners at beginning of event.
  • Setup:
    • Organize the setup of their location as per the checklist.
    • Ensure all tasks are complete before the start of the event.
    • Check off tasks done by people assisting under their names.
  • Cleanup:
    • Organize the clean up of their location as per the checklist.
    • Ensure all tasks on checklist are complete by 2pm at the end of the event.
    • Check off tasks done by people assisting under their names.
  • Return the completed check-list to the Owners.

Term of Position

  • Permanent until requested by player or removed at Owners’ discretion.

Application Requirements

  • Some experience cleaning.
  • Approval from Owners.

Compensation

  • Additional 20 OC per event above the amount earned through standard setup/clean up rewards.

Head of Convention Organization

This position is responsible for the organization and execution for attendance of Fantasy Alive at conventions and exhibits. This position works under the supervision of the Owners.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Collect and maintain a list of conventions available for Fantasy Alive to attend including all necessary details (i.e. dates, materials, costs, attendants required, etc.)
  • Gather all materials for use at conventions and request any additional materials needed from Owners.
  • Plan and organize volunteers, staff and materials for conventions.

Term of Position

  • Permanent until requested by player or removed at Owners’ discretion.

Application Requirements

  • Experience with conventions.
  • Approval from Owners.

Compensation

  • 20 OC per hour worked on convention preparation.
  • 1 Free event for each convention used to promote Fantasy Alive (subject to the satisfaction of the Owners)
  • Fantasy Alive Membership while in position.

Editor of The Story of Fantasy Alive

This position is responsible for producing the Story of Fantasy Alive from submissions. This position works under the supervision of the Head of Plot and Owners.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Collect Player submissions from Lore email account.
  • Review and edit submissions received based on requirements below
  • Provide complete story to Head of Plot and Owners for final review.
  • Post completed story to all approved locations.
  • Log player submissions for Logistics Team for OC awards to writers.

Term of Position

  • Permanent until requested by player or removed at Owners’ discretion.

Application Requirements

  • Proven experience with the written word.
  • Proven ability to handle meta-knowledge properly.
  • Approval from Owners.

Compensation

  • 20 OC per hour worked on this position.

Submission Guidelines:

  • Submission must be written entirely from an In Game perspective.
  • Must not include any information that is not commonly known (We won’t reveal any secrets in these stories).
  • Must be written with respect to other Players and Characters. Insulting stories (even if true) will not be used. Any player wishing for a part of a story to be removed once posted may request it of the Editor ( at lore@fantasyalivelrp.com) and will be taken down ASAP.
  • Stories are not guaranteed to be used. Use of a submission is at the discretion of the Editor, Head of Plot and Owners.
  • The writer of any story used (regardless of length) will be given 25 OC.
